![]() colin manning homepage Hi. Thanks for stopping by my homepage. I grew up in Cork and having lived other places for a few years I moved back here a six years ago. Cork is cool, but the weather is crap. I am very fond of taking photographs and most of my favorite shots are on this site. I like to take pictures of ordinary things. I enjoy trying to find interesting ways of seeing the everyday world. If you're interested you can check out my photography page. It has links to the different sets of pictures. I teach at Cork Institute of Technology. I used to live in Portugal and there is a link to some holiday snaps of Lisboa on the photography page too. While in Portugal I became interested in the wide variety of tiles people put on their houses there, so I took a lot of pictures and made the into a site Azulejos de Lisboa: Portuguese Tiles. That was an interesting little project. The last time I went back I started taking pictures of letters. I've put those together to make TYPOPORTO |

My masters thesis on video compression is available if you're interested in Digital Video, why not check it out. It's not exactly an exciting read, but is a good place to start if you need to learn how digital video works. In my spare time I take photographs, mess about on my trusty Mac, go pubbing and dancing. I used to go out more when I lived in the city center. But not that I live in suburbia it's not so easy. I like listening to music and have the world's biggest collection of crappy CDs. But if you're open-minded you can come across some great bands that they don't play on the radio. Some of my funky favorites are Pizzicato Five, and Cibo Matto from Japan, and Madredeus from Portugal. Agricantus is another interesting group of people that you don't hear on the radio. So feel free to have a poke around my little republic. If you see anything you like or anything you hate let me know. You can e-mail me at colinmanning@excite.com CV |
